  • Oregon Scientific has made some of the best weather instruments out there, so it’s safe to say that they know what they’re doing. The WMR86 weekly stores all the data and updates it every hour. You can view and access this data through the console. However, if you want to delete it then you would need the WMR86 windows.
  • Oregon Scientific DS6628. Capture clear image with the built-in 1.3 Megapixels CMOS sensor. 2X digital zoom enables you to take high quality pictures of objects far away. You connect the camera.

The new La Crosse 2810 (via the curdat.lst file updated by Heavy Weather software) the Weatherwise Pro WS-1081, Solar powered transmitter and the WH3081 with Lux and UV sensors the Ambient/Digitech WiFi Pro station via wunderground.com data or via IP connection or via direct USB connection or via direct WiFI.

This station has been sold by other companys as well; RadioShack and Huger. The nice thing about Radio Shack is that they have excellent documentation. One site I found said, and I agree, 'get this documentation ifyou haven't done so'. They also have parts lists and expandedviews of the pieces. Radio Shack calls this product a 433MHzWireless Weather Station, Catalog # 63-1016.
The station has a base station that displays all the currentconditions. It has a serial connection to a PC so the PC cancollection weather data. The sensors are wireless, so you don'thave to run wires out to them from the base unit. They have solarpanels to charge niCad batteries and some AA cells for backup ifthe sun hasn't been out for a while.
I have seven sensors. One is an indoor thermohygrometer withbarometer. This means it gets temperature and humidity. Outside Ihave a rain gauge, an anemometer, and another thermohygrometer. Three more inside: a cabled temperature only one in the attic and a thermohygrometer upstairs and in the basement.

In order to get proper outdoor temperature readings you need toshield your thermometer from the sun. This is done with aStevenson screen. I built mine with flower pot bases. I found theinformation here.I mounted the screen on the top of our clothes line pole. SinceI took the pictures I added some window screen around the outsideto keep bugs from making nests inside.

The actual numbers of the sensors I have.

Radio Shack has replacement rechargable batteries.I thought they were NiCads but these are NiMH.Found the reference at WxForum.net.

Weather Station Software
There are several companies that have written software to talkwith weather stations. I looked at lists from The WeatherMatrix snd Weather Underground. Here are links to those I have lookedinto (in no particular order). There are many others.

Document describing several
Weather station protocols

Q1: You're always ready, rain or shine
The weather for the next 12-24 hours forecasted in easy-to-see and understandable icons:
*for some models only

Q2: Is the temperature comfortable for my family?
The temperature displays in either Celsius or Fahrenheit to tell you whether it is too hot or cold. A useful arrow icon tells you how the temperature will change.
Temperature trend indicator
Ensure maxium comfort for you and your family with a glance, simply by reading the temperature conditions in your home and adjusting your thermostat.
Q3: Barometric pressure in simple figures

The unit for barometric pressure is hPa, with the key pressure level at 1013 hPa. If the number displayed is lower than this, it is likely to rain. If the number is higher, it is likely to stay clear. It’s that simple. A bar graph also allows you to see the barometric pressure trend for the previous 24 hours. With this information, you can easily tell what weather is heading your way.

Q4: Do I need to water my plants?
Will it be too wet to go hiking?

You now have all the answers with rainfall information. There are four measurements for rainfall: millimeters (mm), millimeters per hour (mm/hr), inches (in) and inches per hour (in/hr). You can view the rainfall for the current hour, accumulated rainfall or the history for the past 24 hours.

Q5: Will I get burnt?

Too much sunlight can be harmful. With the UV index, you will know how much is the exposure and what type of sun block you will need. The index predicts UV intensity levels on a scale of 1 - 11 and above, from a low risk of overexposure to an extreme risk respectively.

Q6: Radio-controlled timing for reliability and accuracy

The Oregon Scientific logo indicates that the product features radio-controlled timing, and will synchronise its calendar and clock automatically. With it, your time will always be reassuringly accurate.

Q7: I cannot see my data on my PC.
Make sure your main unit is connected to the PC.
Your PC might be in sleeping mode. Press any key on your PC to wake up. If this problem persists, unplug and then plug in the connection cable again, then wait for several minutes as it takes a while to receive data from the main unit. For a steady data collection, turn off the sleeping mode on your PC.
The PC software might be minimized to the taskbar. Right click the PC software icon and then select Open.

Q8: The time and date recorded on the PC software is different from the PC.
The PC software is capable of recording data despite the difference, but the time and date recorded follows the time and date set on the main unit. To make sure the time and date are the same on both devices, adjust the time and date manually on the main unit.

Q9: A pop up window appears when I open the exported excel file.
WMR200 PC software generates .xls file. It is compatible with the later Microsoft Office Excel versions.

Q10: Can I switch to the other programs when the PC software is opened?
Yes. You may switch to the other programs by clicking minimize button on the PC software window.

Q11: Why the max/min data in my main unit is different from the data in the PC software?
The max/min data on the main unit bases only on the data stored since the last memory clear operation, whereas the PC software bases on the data stored in the PC regardless of the memory cleared on the main unit.

Q12: The background picture in the PC software doesn’t change after receiving the latest weather forecast.
The background changes the picture according to the weather forecast when you go to other pages in the software.
